The Rapid Street Reporting (RSR) team visited Miami, FL on November 3–5, 2023, and surveyed 328 individuals. After alcohol and marijuana, the next most commonly reported substances used in the past 12 months were psilocybin (8.2%), powder cocaine (7.9%), and ecstasy (7.3%). View the full report here.

Trends and correlates of naloxone possession and use among people who inject drugs in Seattle, Washington
|

|
A recently published study in the International Journal of Drug Policy, co-authored by NDEWS Sentinel Site Director Dr. Caleb Banta-Green, described temporal trends in and correlates of naloxone possession and use among people who inject drugs in the Seattle area of Washington State. Results showed that naloxone possession and use increased among PWID in the Seattle area. The authors noted that this is likely the result of policy efforts to facilitate easier naloxone accessibility. Read the study here.

NPS Discovery releases 8 new drug monographs for novel psychoactive substances first identified
|

|
Earlier this week, NPS Discovery released eight new drug monographs, including their most recent notification of the novel synthetic opioid N-desethyl etonitazene identified for the first time in samples analyzed at their laboratory. The new drug monographs are issued to detail the emergence of an NPS and include available information about the new substances identified at the time of reporting and the analytical data generated during testing. Prevalence and correlates of past 30-day dual-vaping of nicotine and cannabis among adolescents in five New England states
|

|
A study recently published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence described the prevalence and sociodemographic correlates of past 30-day nicotine and cannabis vaping (dual-vaping) among adolescents from five New England states. Results showed that adolescent past 30-day dual-vaping of nicotine and cannabis was more prevalent than past 30-day sole-vaping of either nicotine or cannabis alone. Read the study here.
